Golden Irish Beauties

Some of you may know very little about a Golden Irish, so lets start with the basics:

  • Height: 21-28 inches
  • Weight: 55-80 lb
  • Lifespan: 12-15 years

Lively and affectionate, the Golden Irish is a hybrid developed from the affectionate Golden Retriever and the agile Irish Setter. Combining the good looks and personalities of both parents, they are an excellent choice for a family pet.

They offer everything that a family could possibly want from their pet. These dogs will be thrilled to meet you, excitedly race to the door to see you at the end of every day, and they will remain lovingly loyal to the end of life and that is guaranteed. They enjoy getting and giving loads of attention and affection, and they are a lot of fun to be around. These pups make life a little sweeter just by being at your side.

The breed was developed in the 1980’s mainly in the USA, as that is when & where “designer” dogs became popular. It slowly built momentum across Europe, however, they can still be quiet hard to come by this side of the Atlantic.

When it comes to training your Golden Irish, you can expect them to be easy to work with, especially considering you are starting them so young. We tell all our families that it is important not to waste the early days, we hand over all our pups fully socialized, which makes it easier to instill good behavior from the off.

Overall, they are a very intelligent breed, and retriever genes will make your pet the type that will listen and obey, which means you will use fewer repetitions while your pup learns the ropes.

The appearance of Golden Irish pups can vary within a litter, some may be lighter or darker in colour and some can wear light “blazes” similar to the one on the feature image above of one of our current pups (can you COPE with his freckled nose!!!!) Also, see a group shot below from the same litter where you get a better idea (ignore the red tone, they are still snuggled up under our heat lamps!)

So I hope you are that bit more informed when it comes to this beautiful breed, in the meantime, rest assured we will be right here smelling puppy heads and tickling fat tummies until you return………..
